Organized by Royal Automobile Club of Monaco, the rally race aimed to promote Monaco as a destination for elite motorists. Competitors started from various European cities and drove to Monte Carlo, with the winner being the one who arrived the fastest and with the fewest penalty points.

The first winner was Henri Rougier, who managed Turcat-Méry 25 HPThis rally was not just a speed race – the judges also evaluated the comfort, elegance and technical condition of the cars.
